Passing Buckets
It’s a tried and true method where a human chain is formed in order to transport items from one location to another. Before hand pump fire engines were invented, townspeople would work together, passing bucket after bucket of water from a well or river until the fire was put out.
Celebrating the numbers 1, 3 and 46. Why?
On October 13, 2017 over 150 people gathered at our home church in Lynchburg, Virginia to screen The Good Story’s first documentary, “We Are Here”. This 30-minute documentary explored the mysterious world of the Roma “Gypsies” and how the Gospel has penetrated and transformed this “least likely” people group.
Unsexy Missions
"When's your next trip?"
This may be one of the most common questions asked of The Good Story. It's understandable because these trips and the products created as a result of them are the forward facing fruit of what the ministry does.
What's The Point?
The church’s history with “the arts” has been hot and cold.
It has been its most generous benefactor to sculptors, painters, and musicians. Take one step into a European cathedral and your jaw will drop as your eyes scan meticulously chiseled masterpieces and enormous, detailed ceiling scenes of biblical events. You may even hear melodies it commissioned reverberating from massive pipe organs.
A Place To Call Home
It seemed too audacious!
Despite my hesitation, I reached out my timid hand and laid it on the exterior corner of a small office wall inside a revitalized industrial warehouse as I mustered the courage.
Under my breath I asked the Lord to give us this office one day.
That was two years ago.
A Colorful Update
With the rapid changes, transformation, and expansion that have taken place since we launched the IDEA of The Good Story on April 7, 2015, the previous website simply could not contain the breadth and depth of our current ministry status.
When Your "What If" Becomes Reality
Is it possible to birth twins two weeks apart? We feel like we successfully did! Our second, year-long, project debuted last week! Please welcome our newest baby, The Good Story Academy! (fondly referred to as TGSA)
Maria's Story
“Is what I’m doing really needed?”
This was the question I asked myself during my time in Slovenia at the ReachGlobal European Division Conference last month.
Connecting to Perspective
I work at a church in America and let me tell you, negativity is not difficult to find. It seems like every day I’m sent an article about the spiral the Church is in...
This Changes Everything
“Of course The Good Story HAD to have a “good story,” Kelly… you didn’t think God was gonna make it smooth and easy, did you?”
Donor Highlight: Matt and Jaimie Wommack
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned through ministry so far, it’s the importance of consistency,” Jamie Wommack said. Her husband, Matt, nodded in strong agreement.
Ambassador Profile - Kathleen Ostrom
We believe God has gifted every individual on the earth in a unique way to bring Him glory and further His kingdom.
The Bakers: A Life Lived at the Margins
“The more we’ve found ourselves engaging marginality, the more convinced we are the presence of Jesus is made manifest at the margins,” Jim Baker said.
I Don't Think I'm Ready For This
“How was your trip?” is the question we’ve been asked over and over since we returned home from our eight-day trip to Hungary.
Portoroz, Slovenia
I've often heard that the English language falls particularly short to adequately describe many human experiences.
